Well, back for post #2. Must say, my motivation has dwindled somewhat in the past few weeks. I think it's the "nearing the end of winter blues". I've been able to get out and run / ride, but not much motivation to really push it. We're painting out downstairs powder room and it didn't turn out too well, so as usual it took 3 times longer than it should have. Time to get the ship going in the right direction, who would believe that we're closing in on the end of February already....AND daylight savings!
A lot of exciting things coming this Spring. In two weeks Lauren and I head to Albany Georgia to represent Team Under Armour Run as pace group leaders for the Snickers Marathon Energy Bar Marathon. It will be both of our first times as marathon pacers. I've paced Lauren in two marathons and I've led pace groups in two half marathons, so this should be a fun little getaway for us. Thanks to Pacer Jim for trusting us and hopefully all goes well and we get to be involved in more events as pace leaders.
I'm organizing pace groups for the Lehigh Valley Half Marathon on May 5 and also volunteering on the Expo Committee, so that's keeping me busy. I'm also organizing the inaugural LVRR Grand Prix Series, so tabulating the standings has also kept me busy.
My training has been going pretty well. I've been going to a spin class on Thursday PM's and trying to get one outdoor ride in per week. Running mileage has been 50-65 miles per week with some speed and tempo thrown in. The hardest part at this point is deciding on goal races. We're blessed with so many in this area and the worst part is deciding which to do on which weekends. Spring brings road races (5K, 10K, 10milers, 1/2 marathons), criterium training series, duathlons and of course BOSTON. Then there's Duathlon Nationals and the Eagleman Half Ironman that I'm signed up for. Wow! The thought of all of those events is enough to motivate me to keep plugging along....waiting to see the flowers, buds on trees and the warm weather that follow!
